Indra arrived with a divine chariot.

He invited Yudhishthira to enter the chariot and travel to heaven.

Yudhishthira was ready to enter the divine chariot.

But he noticed that the dog could not come with him.

The Pandavas had reached the height of their success at Indraprastha.

But Duryodhana’s jealousy had become stronger than ever.

With the help of Shakuni, he planned to invite Yudhishthira to Hastinapura for a game of dice.

What appeared to be an ordinary royal game was actually a carefully planned trap.

The events that followed would change the lives of the Pandavas, Draupadi and the entire Kuru dynasty.

1. The Invitation to Hastinapura

Yudhishthira received an invitation from Dhritarashtra.

He was asked to come to Hastinapura and participate in a game of dice.

Yudhishthira understood that the situation could be dangerous.

However, the customs and expectations surrounding royal invitations made it difficult for him to simply refuse.

The Pandavas therefore travelled to Hastinapura along with Draupadi.

They entered the royal court without knowing how devastating the coming game would become.

Duryodhana wanted Shakuni to play on his behalf.

11. Bhima Makes a Terrible Vow

Bhima was furious.

He could not accept the humiliation suffered by Draupadi.

He made a powerful vow against Dushasana and Duryodhana.

Bhima promised that he would take revenge for what had happened.

His anger became one of the seeds of the future Kurukshetra war.

The Pandavas would never forget the humiliation of the dice hall.

12. Dhritarashtra Intervenes

Dhritarashtra finally understood how dangerous the situation had become.

He feared the consequences of what had happened in the royal court.

He therefore granted Draupadi a boon.

Draupadi asked for the freedom of Yudhishthira.

Then she asked for the freedom of the other Pandavas.

Dhritarashtra granted her requests.

The Pandavas were released.

13. The Second Dice Game

Despite everything that had happened, another game of dice was proposed.

The Pandavas were invited once again.

This time, the condition was different.

The losing side would have to spend twelve years in the forest followed by one year living in disguise.

If they were discovered during the thirteenth year, the period of exile would begin again.

Yudhishthira accepted the challenge.

Shakuni played the dice.

Yudhishthira lost.

The Pandavas were once again defeated.

14. The Pandavas Leave for the Forest

The Pandavas had lost their kingdom again.

They were now required to leave for the forest.

Draupadi chose to accompany them.

Kunti remained in Hastinapura.

The Pandavas removed their royal possessions and prepared for exile.

The people of Hastinapura were deeply saddened to see them leave.
