Continuing our 18 Mahapuranas series, Part 14 is the Vamana Purana.

The Vamana Purana is traditionally counted among the 18 Mahapuranas. It is named after Vamana, the dwarf incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and contains stories and teachings connected with Vishnu, Shiva, Devi, Dharma, sacred places, pilgrimage and Hindu religious traditions.

What Is the Vamana Purana?

The Vamana Purana takes its name from Vamana, one of the important incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

He appears in the form of a young Brahmin dwarf and approaches the powerful Asura king Bali.

King Bali

King Bali is one of the most important figures in the Vamana story.

Bali then offers his own head for the third step.
