Shiva and Goddess Parvati

One of the most important stories in the Shiva Purana is the relationship between Shiva and Parvati.

Birth of Lord Ganesha

The Shiva Purana contains one of the best-known stories about Lord Ganesha.

According to the traditional narrative, Parvati creates Ganesha and asks him to guard the entrance while she is bathing.

When Shiva arrives, Ganesha does not allow him to enter.

Later, Shiva restores Ganesha to life and gives him the head of an elephant.
